Fortnum and Mason dates back to 1707 and is one of the world’s most renowned stores. Believe it or not Fortnum and Mason was built on Queen Anne’s demand for fresh candles every night which led to spare wax to sell on and there Fortnum’s was born. Now Fortnum and Mason is known for it’s high end groceries, hampers, chocolates, teas and so on.
Fortnum and Mason is one of my favourite shopping emporiums in the world. A symbol of British luxury, it is five minutes from my boutique and symbolises understated British elegance and you simply cannot go wrong here. Offering a variety of foods and gifting for those around you, this is the place I recommend to everyone. It has an air of escapism the moment you enter. With chandeliers, the wonderful staircase and of course the decorations around key holidays such as Christmas and Easter, Fortnum and Mason represents a world of it’s own.
You go into the basement and try their Welsh Rarebit and it is worth every penny on your shopping list. It comes in a pot and you can keep the beautiful pot afterwards. This is something you spread on the toast onced you’ve grilled it. It is seriously a very tasty brunch.
Once you enter this stunning landmark, you won’t even know where to start. This is the place to stock up on for epicurean delights. The Christmas floor is encapsulating. It feeds your Christmas spirit.
Like Ormonde Jayne, Fortnum and Mason, is still an independently owned family brand and store to this day! A truly unique symbol of British luxury and tradition. There is nothing like it in the whole world. An individually styled emporium. It leads me to temptation which I cannot resist.
